Matt Gannon: VW, Audi, Porsche Specialist
Matt Gannon was into cars as far back as he can remember. One memory in particular that stands out, though, is when his parents purchased an Audi and he learned how good the Quattro is. From there, Matt honed his appreciation for European performance engineering by working for different dealers and independent shops, gaining experience servicing multiple brands.
Being part of a relatively small automotive community, he caught wind of Berg Performance through his network. Many of his former colleagues wound up working at the shop, and Matt liked what he heard about the way customers and employees were actually valued. Those skills and connections culminated when he joined the team as a VW, Audi and Porsche specialist for Berg Performance.
A typical day for Matt starts with a coffee, and then the most enjoyable part can commence: identifying what would bring the vehicle at hand up to its original condition or better. Before he gets to savor the satisfaction of a job well done, he truly relishes the process—from diagnosis to final product—with a game on, challenge accepted attitude.
That same mantra carries over to Matt’s numerous will it run again? projects he’s got in rotation right now. While he admitted that proving you can bring a car back to life doesn’t always make for the most financially sound pursuit, he’s a better tech for knowing what it takes to revive vehicles others have deemed a no-go. Matt also likes to keep things fresh and entertaining by driving a revolving mix of Volkswagen Auto Group brands. Parked next to those, his dream garage would contain a Porsche 997 Turbo for cruising under sunny skies, and a Bentley Continental Flying Spur for the snow days.
